The origin concept of G1:1, Sweden
The first IEEE International Workshop on Wireless and Mobile Technologies in Education (WMTE2002) was held in Växjö University, Sweden. The host, Marcelo Milrad, proposed the idea of establishing an academic and industry consortium to promote wireless and mobile technologies for learning in the continents of Europe, North America, and Asia.

First G1:1 Workshop, Taiwan
The first workshop called Global Platform for Public-Private Partnership (G4P) with participants from USA, Germany , Switzerland, Sweden, and New Zealand was hosted by Tak-Wai Chan at National Central University in Taiwan. They had laid its international embryonic form as "Global Collaborative Testbed Network for 1:1 Technology Enhanced Learning".

A group of researcher representative of National Science and Technology Program for e-Learning of Taiwan leads by professor Liu, Chung Laung by paying visit to the University of Berkeley, USA, Stanford Research International, the Stanford University, Hewlett-Packard Laboratory, The Exploratorium: the museum of science, art and human perception, University of Michigan, National Science Council and other academia and governmental organization. After they went to Europe to visit Laboratoire Leibniz of France, University of Duisburg-Essen, Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne, Switzerland, Växjö university, Sweden and so on to enhance the common consensus relationship between each researcher of each country. |

Second G1:1 Workshop, Taiwan
This event was host before Second IEEE International Workshop in WMTE to gather more international members to participate within. Also, laying out the particular plans to be ready to action and the Research Center for Science and Technology for Learning of National Central University builds an united communicate website ( www.g1to1.org ) for the research centers from all over the world to share the information can be more convenient.
